Reasons to Support the New Alimony Reform Bill
Here are some terms of the new 2011 Alimony Reform Bill that I support. Alimony term limits will now be judged on the number of years the marriage existed. In case of a remarriage of the primary supporter, the income of the new partner will not be recalculated into the alimony contrary to the current law under some circumstances.
Alimony will be suspended, reduced, or terminated in the case of
cohabitation with a new partner lasting longer than three months. A second job or overtime is not included in an
alimony modification. Also, the payment of health insurance and or life insurance reduces the alimony payment. Alimony extensions are made available for certain clear cut circumstances to be determined by a judge. Lastly, alimony ends with the remarriage of the alimony recipient.
