Bountiful Praise For the MA Alimony Reform Act
The signing of the Massachusetts Alimony Reform Act has brought about a wave of high power praise. Apart from the unanimous agreement by the state House and the Senate, the signing of the bill has also garnered acclaim spread about esteemed publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, New York Times, and many more.
The New York Times interviewed the president of a grass-roots group of alimony paying men, Steve Hitner, who "hoped the law would prevent situations like his." Hitner had to declare bankruptcy after paying his $45,000-a-year alimony payments.
The Boston Globe published the perspective of Denise Squillante, former President of the Massachusetts Bar Association, who applauded the fact that alimony modification had changed from just a "one-shot cookie cutter for every case." She labeled the new bill "very fair" and assessed that the bill addresses both the issues of the payers and recievers of alimony.
