New Jersey Hopes To Emulate Massachusetts Alimony Reform

Since Massachusetts reformed its alimony in September of 2011, states across the nation have been reevaluating their own alimony laws. Nationwide
divorcees are vocalizing their frustration with out of date and barbaric legislation. Many states are hoping to mirror the success of Massachusetts' abolishment of aged and, what many consider, unfair alimony laws.
New Jersey is one of the states becoming progressively vocal about its dissatisfaction with current alimony legislation. Many divorced men and women lament over lifelong struggles with alimony payments. Words such as bankruptcy often plague these enduring settlements and make divorcees shutter in fear. Groups across New Jersey are advocating that new legislation take note of some significant factors current alimony laws overlook such as the break up of the marriage, a history of credit card abuse among spouses, financial irresponsibility, and the unwillingness to work.
