- The defendant must file an answer, appearance, or counterclaim. If the defendant does not file then a Notice of Default is filed with the court and a hearing is scheduled
- After the filing of an Answer a Case Information Statement must be filed by each party
- An application to the court filed to resolve certain issues such as property, custody, and support issues.
- During an emergency situation Orders to Show Cause may be filed
- Discovery includes the answering of interrogatories, depositions, evaluations and appraisals
- Upon completion of discovery and if the case is contested, a hearing is scheduled by MESP
- Case Management or Settlement Conference scheduled with the Court
- If the parties cannot settlement then a trial commences
- A final judgment granting the divorce along with the settlement terms
